Hog Heaven BBQ Sauce

Posted by Dave Conner on

At our core, simple and easy is what we strive to provide. Don't be constrained to this BBQ sauce recipe. Think of it as a base for you to develop your own 'signature sauce' that puts a certain touch to all your grilled dishes. I believe that on it's own, its a great fresh bbq sauce, but it calls for you to put your spin on it.

1 cup     apple cider vinegar

1 cup     ketchup

1 Tbl     butter

1/2 cup     Vidalia onion, minced

1/4 cup     dark brown sugar

2 Tbl     Worcestershire sauce

1 1/2 Tbl     Hog Heaven seasoning

In a small sauce pot, melt butter over low heat. Add minced onion, and hog heaven seasoning. Cook for about 5 minutes until onion is very fragrant and soft. Add remaining ingredients, whisk to combine, and reduce sauce over low heat for about 10-15 minutes. The flavors will be tangy and sweet, with a nice onion flavor. Make this sauce your own, feel free to add pineapple juice in place of some of the vinegar, adding green and red bell pepper will give a deeper flavor.. you can even render chopped bacon along with the onion! Play around with it, that's what cooking is all about.
