Homemade pasta sauce

Sunday Night Pasta Sauce...Gravy.

  • 4-6 People

  • Time: 6 Hours

  • Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients

  • 1lb pork butt

  • 1lb ground beef
  • 1lb Italian sausage
  • 1 large Spanish onion, chopped
  • 6 clove garlic, sliced thin
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 bunch basil
  • 3 can kitchen ready tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 1 cup white wine
  • 3 Tbl. U Wanna Pizza Me? seasoning

Low and Slow, Just Like It Should Be

This Sunday sauce is the real deal—slow-simmered, rich, and built to fill the house with that unmistakable aroma.

Loaded with beef, sausage, and a slow-cooked pork base, then finished with U Wanna Pizza Me, it brings bold, herby Italian flavor that only gets better the longer it cooks.

Preparation

  1. In a large stock pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, and U Wanna Pizza Me seasoning. Sauté until fragrant.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
  3. Deglaze the pot with white wine, scraping up any browned bits.
  4. Stir in tomato products and bring to a gentle simmer.
  5. Add pork butt and Italian sausage to the pot.
  6. Pour in about 1 quart of water, reduce heat to low, and let the sauce simmer slowly for about 6 hours.
  7. Stir occasionally as the sauce thickens and develops flavor.
  8. Remove meats (or serve alongside), then spoon sauce over cooked pasta.

Pro Tip:

Keep the heat low and steady—this sauce isn’t about rushing. The longer it simmers, the deeper the flavor gets.

Make It Your Own:

  • Add meatballs for a full Sunday spread
  • Use red wine instead of white for a richer flavor
  • Toss in fresh herbs like basil at the end
  • Shred the pork back into the sauce for extra texture

What To Serve It With:

Serve over linguine or your favorite pasta with sausage on top. Don’t forget crusty bread for soaking up every last bit.
